Some prompts you’ll win organically. Others you won’t — at least not yet. Ads lets you buy paid placement inside AI answers (via OpenAI Ads, in ChatGPT conversations) for the commercial-intent prompts where you’re weak organically, so you can show up on the questions that drive purchases while your organic work catches up. 3RD points you at the right prompts to buy — the must-win questions with the biggest visibility gap — and lets you launch and manage campaigns without leaving the app.
Ads runs on OpenAI Ads and is being rolled out quickly to all regions. If you’re not sure it’s available in yours yet, reach out to your 3RD contact. The OpenAI Ads connection is set up once at the workspace level by 3RD — so if the page says “OpenAI Ads is not connected,” that’s also your cue to get in touch rather than connecting it yourself.

What you’ll see

The page adapts to where you are:
  • No campaigns yet — a list of Opportunities: the prompts worth buying first.
  • Running campaigns — three sections, top to bottom: Recommended next steps, Campaigns, and Opportunities.

Opportunities — where paid pays off

The Opportunities table ranks your must-win prompts by how much a paid placement would help. It reuses the same visibility data as your dashboard, so the numbers reconcile. Hit Create campaign on any row to open the campaign builder already targeting that prompt.
Start where Opportunity is highest — a must-win prompt with low visibility and high volume. That’s a question with real commercial value that you’re currently losing, and paid placement closes the gap immediately while your organic content works over weeks.
When you have campaigns running, this prioritized list surfaces the highest-leverage moves:
  • Resume a paused campaign that’s currently spending nothing.
  • Buy placement on an uncovered must-win prompt that has no campaign yet.
  • Create a landing page for a live campaign’s prompt — this hands off to the Content Agent (available if your plan includes it).

Create a campaign

1

Setup

Optionally base the campaign on a tracked prompt or topic (this seeds the AI copy). Then set a name, budget, start date (with Run continuously or an end date), and country targeting. Under the ad group, choose a bidding type (CPC or CPM) and max bid, a default ad URL, and context hints — short tags that tell OpenAI Ads which conversations your ad should appear in (there’s a Suggest hints button).
2

Creative

Write the ad title and body, and optionally add an image. If you based the campaign on a prompt or topic, Generate with AI drafts the copy for you.
3

Review

Check the summary, then either Save as paused (create it without spending yet) or Create campaign (launch it live in OpenAI Ads).
In a hurry? The Create suggested campaign option builds a ready-to-review campaign from your top must-win opportunity — budget, targeting, and creative pre-filled — dropping you straight on the Review step. Save it as paused, sanity-check it, then launch.

Track and manage campaigns

The Campaigns table shows each campaign’s status, related prompt, spend against budget, and performance (impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC). Open one for the full detail:
  • KPIs — Spend, Impressions, Clicks, CTR, Conversions, CPA.
  • Ad groups — bidding, creatives (previewed as they’ll appear), and context hints.
  • ActionsEdit (name, dates, budget, countries), Pause / Resume, or Archive.
Paid delivery isn’t instant, and neither is measurement — give a new or edited campaign time to accumulate impressions before judging it. Read-only members can see campaigns and performance but can’t create or change them.
