The Asana integration is in Beta. If you don’t see the Asana row, it isn’t switched on for your organization yet.
Before you start
- You need edit access to the brand in 3RD. View-only members don’t see the Connect button.
- You connect per brand. Each brand links its own Asana account.
- You need an Asana account that can see the project you want tasks in.
Connect Asana
1
Open Integrations
In 3RD, open Settings → Integrations for the brand. Asana is under Task management. You can also click Integrations on the Task management board.
2
Click Connect
In the Asana row, click Connect. Sign in to Asana and allow 3RD access.
3
Check it's connected
Back in 3RD, the row shows Connected and the Asana account you linked. If you cancel in Asana, nothing is connected and the row says so.
Choose where tasks go
Open the ⋯ menu in the Asana row and click Sync settings. On the Task management board, click the Asana button instead. The How 3RD works with Asana window opens.- Project: the project the Send window opens on.
- To do, In progress, Done: the section a task moves to for each status. Pick Leave where it is to keep it in place.
Send tasks to Asana
1
Select tasks
On the Task management board, tick the box on each task you want to send. The box shows when you hover over a card.
2
Click Send to Asana
In the bar that appears, click Send to Asana.
3
Pick the project and section
Choose the Project and, if you like, a Section. With No section, each task goes to the section you set for its status, or to the top of the project. Click Send.
A task that’s already in that project isn’t sent twice. Sent tasks show a small Asana icon on their card in 3RD. Click it to open the task in Asana.
Keep status in step
From 3RD to Asana. When you change the status of a sent task in 3RD, 3RD asks Update Asana too? Click Update Asana to move the Asana task to the section you set for that status, or Not now to leave it. From Asana to 3RD. When you move a sent task into a section you matched to a status, or mark it complete, the task in 3RD moves to that status. A complete task counts as Done. A section you didn’t match, or matched to more than one status, changes nothing. The newest change wins, whichever side made it.What 3RD never does
3RD only creates tasks, moves the tasks it sent between sections of their project, and marks them complete or not. It never:- deletes anything in Asana
- moves a task to another project
- changes a task’s name, description or anything else
- touches a task that was taken out of the project it was sent to
Disconnect
Open the ⋯ menu in the Asana row and click Disconnect, then confirm. You can also click Disconnect in the How 3RD works with Asana window. 3RD stops sending anything to Asana and status changes stop coming back. Tasks already in Asana stay where they are.Troubleshooting
