The WordPress integration is in Beta. Connect it per brand; nothing is shared across brands.
Before you start
- Your organization needs an active 3RD subscription with the Content Agent.
- You need edit access to the brand in 3RD. View-only members don’t see the Connect button.
- You connect per brand. Each brand links its own WordPress site.
- The site is a self-hosted WordPress site, version 5.6 or later, reached over https. It needs to run at the root of its address, such as
https://www.example.com. - You need a WordPress account with the Author, Editor or Administrator role. 3RD writes posts and uploads images as this account.
- Application Passwords must be turned on. Some hosts and security plugins turn them off. If you can’t find them, ask whoever looks after your site.
Connect WordPress
1
Open Integrations
In 3RD, open Settings → Integrations for the brand.
2
Click Connect
In the WordPress row, click Connect. The Connect WordPress window opens. Type your Site address, such as
https://www.example.com, and click Open this page in WordPress to jump to the right place in your WordPress admin.3
Make an application password
In WordPress, go to Users, then Profile. Scroll down to Application Passwords, type
3RD as the name and click Add New Application Password. Copy the password WordPress shows. It is shown only once.4
Paste your details
Back in 3RD, click Next. Check the Site address, enter your WordPress username (the one you log in with) and paste the Application password. This is the 24-character password from Application Passwords, not your login password. Spaces are fine. Click Connect.
5
Choose where pieces go
3RD checks the details with your site, then the Where drafts go window opens by itself. Pick a Post type and click Save.
Choose where pieces go
Drafts go to Posts until you choose otherwise. The Post type list shows only the types the connected account can create, such as Posts, Pages or a type a plugin adds. 3RD fills these fields in each new draft:
Images are uploaded to your Media Library. An image that can’t be copied stays a link to its original address, and 3RD tells you how many.
To change the post type later, open the ⋯ menu in the WordPress row and click Choose where pieces go. The next push of an article makes a new draft in the new post type.
Push an article to WordPress
1
Open the article
In the Content Agent, open a new article (not an optimization of an existing page).
2
Send it as a draft
Click Push to WordPress. If the brand has more than one CMS connected, the button says Push to CMS and you pick WordPress in the window. Check the Address and click Send as draft. 3RD shows Draft created in WordPress when it’s done.
3
Review it in WordPress
Open Posts (or the post type you chose) in WordPress. The new item is marked Draft.
Drafts only
3RD only ever creates or updates drafts. It never publishes, and never deletes anything on your site. Once a post is published, scheduled, made private or sent for review in WordPress, 3RD leaves it alone. Pushing that article again shows a message asking you to edit it in WordPress.Disconnect
Open the ⋯ menu in the WordPress row and click Disconnect. 3RD stops sending anything to WordPress and deletes the details it stored. Drafts already in WordPress stay where they are. To shut off access from the WordPress side too, revoke the3RD application password in your WordPress profile. The next time 3RD tries to reach your site, the row shows Reconnect needed.
